Galway Observer - Saturday 05 November 1938 CASTLEBAR’S NEW BELL. Most Rev. Dr. Gilmartin, Archbishop of Tuam, assisted by Venerable Archbishop Fallon, P.P., V.F., and other clergy, blessed a new bell to be installed in Castlebar Parish Church and named it Mary’s Bell in honour of Our Blessed Lady, to whom the Church is dedicated. [Extracted by Dickon R Love, June 2024. Note that this dedication took place in 1938, although the church website suggests the bell itself is dated 1937.]
