Dublin Weekly Nation - Saturday 30 March 1878
THE NEW BELL FOR LAURENCETOWN CHURCH.- Sunday last was a day of great bustle in the picturesque little village of Laurencetown, the occasion being the hanging of a splendid bell which has been recently purchased by Father O’Hagan, the rev. parish priest. The new bell is one of the largest for religious purposes in Ulster, weighing no less than three tons, and was specially manufactured for Laurencetown at the bell foundry of Mr. Thomas Sheridan, of Church-street, Dublin. The following inscription is engraved on the outer surface:- “Deum verum plebem voco congrego clerum Defunctos puro nimbum fugo testaque honoro.”- Newry Reporter.
