[1]History of the bell

The bell was cast and hung in the tower of St James Old Church, Dover. Noted as weighing between 3 and 4 cwt, it was hung in the frame which used to hold the former ring of 6 bells that were traded away in 1861. The tower was bombed and severely damaged in 1944 and partially demolished in 1950. This bell was stored for some years in St Mary’s, Dover before being transferred to All Saints, Shirley. All Saints church was built in 1955.
