Overhauled | 2004 by Nicholson Engineering Ltd Data circa. The existing 3 bells tuned to be the 2nd, 4th and tenor of a chime of five by Whitechapel. 2 second-hand bells sourced via Keltek Trust to be treble and 3rd. The treble is an ex buoy bell, the other was the former 4th at Kidderminster. The original 3 bells had their staples removed and were rehung with their original headstocks in the bellframe. The additional 2 bells were hung from roof beams above the others. All were equipped with internal trigger action chiming hammers, this type having been chosen so as to avoid the need to fix anything to the ancient bellframe. The bells are rung from an Ellacombe frame in the ground floor vestry. The bells were previously hung for dead rope ringing although they did have stays and sliders so there may once have been the intention to try full-circle ringing. They continue to hang from their previous headstocks but these are secured to prevent them swinging so they are effectively now deadstocks. |
