[2]Notes on the frame sitting on the lowest frame (WBF 2006)
The height of the original lowest frame was increased by 3’0" with further frameside sections being built up from the top of the original frame. The upper frame is similar in style to the lower frame although the quality of construction is a little less. Cut outs in the top timbers of both the original and the upper frame indicate the positions for two pairs of bearing brasses however the absence of grease staining suggests that these bearings were never in fact fitted. On the other hand, our day book entry for 1908 refers to rehanging the 2nd bell with new bearings for ringing. [The two quarter bells are hung above pits A and D of the 4.6 frame below.]

[3]Notes on lowest frame (WBF 2006)
The lower bellframe, positioned at third floor level, appears to date from the early 19th Century. It was clearly designed to house a total of four bells, al swinging in the north/south direction. In detail, two long frameside sections, 3’9 high and 3’7
apart, span the tower north/south and with the ends of the framesides being carried on to the sills of openings in the north and south walls. Two shorter and parallel sections fit within the recesses in the east and west walls such that one bell each would swing between the outer frames and the centre framework whilst two bells would wing end to end within the long centre pit. The frameside sections are conventional in style and comprise horizontal top and bottom timbers with diagonal braces between. Subsequently the height of the frame was increased by 3’0" with further frameside sections being built up from the top of the original frame.
