Notes
[1]History of the bell
The bell is the smaller one of two taken to St Andrew, Histon from the St Mary, Islington, near Kings Lynn, when it was declared redundant in the 1960’s. Both bells are now attributed to Austen Bracker who is thought to have been an itinerant founder operating out of the Lynn foundry or possibly Norwich. There are only 7 or 8 bells known to currently exist by him and the other one is unique in that it has the date 1556 in Roman Numerals on the inscription band which reads “FOR THE YERE OF OUR LORD GOD XDLVI”, with the “D” reversed.
