Frame modifications:
Frame 1: 1971 by John Taylor & Co
The 1893 Charles Carr composite timber and cast iron frame was modified with additional steel frame sides of truss type 8.1.A.b to accommodate additional bells. The layout went from 6.5 to an irregular 8 bell layout. Bells 1/8 and 2/8 hang side-by-side in the pit formerly occupied by bell 6/6, now divided in two by an RSJ. Bells 3/8, 4/8, 5/8 hang end-to-end in the pits formerly occupied by bells 1/6 and 2/6.
