We have added two new webpages (see the lh panel under Listings, etc’) which provide a reminder that we don’t always hear about situations returning to ’normal.
The first indicates those rings where we have been told that the bells are being restored and that flag has continued to be shown for over 6 months.
The second is a similar indication about those where we were told over a year ago that ringing has been temporarily suspended. In such a case that situation might no longer apply. Alternatively there could be a case for it to be replaced by a more long term equivalent, such as either ’ringing prohibited or ’ringing currently not permitted. (The real distinction is that a message including the word temporary or currently would not appear in a printed copy of Dove whereas the other would.)
We ask that users please monitor those webpages (which, hereafter, will be regularly updated at the end of each month) and let us know about any changed situation.
As always, please only supply us with information about which you are absolutely confident. Notifications which are unaccompanied by a suitable indication of the submitter’s status with respect to the ring (such as ’Tower Captain’) cannot expect to be acted upon.
