Help: iOS app no longer available
In 2017 we announced with regret that the iOS Dove app was no longer available. Some users who already had the app installed were able to continue using it, but without receiving software updates. Since then we have received reports that it will not run on later versions of iOS, though other users remain able to use it.
The app was developed independently and the Dove Team does not have access to the source code. Sadly, due to serious ill-health, the original developer is no longer available to provide support or hand over access to the code. This is unfortunate, but the Dove Team have thoroughly explored the available options and that is the situation – it is not likely to change.
In the meantime, we have developed mobile friendly versions of the website, and in due course we may extend that to developing a replacement app. We also intend to launch the ability for individuals to record their own tower grabs via the website in due course, and this functionality may also be included in a future app.
If you have a backup of the data from the old iOS app, we hope it will be possible to import it into any future service for recording tower grabs. However we understand that the backup facility in the iOS app stopped working in about 2017 due to a change in the Dropbox API, so many users will either not have a copy of their data or will only have an out of date copy. We strongly recommend against storing valuable data in the iOS app unless you are confident you have some other way of accessing your data.
