Notes
[1]Frame layout details
According to Robert Walker in his paper Cambridgeshire Bell Frames
, he says This oak frame has four parallel pits and a fifth at the north end. It was altered in 1902 to form a sixth pit within the two central parallel pits but no sixth bell was added.
He goes on to describe it as layout 6.12, but there is no mention of it being diagonal, and 6.12 doesn’t fit with the narrative. Chris Dalton visited in 1971 and his notes say the four parallel pits are all N-S with the 5th and the empty added pit at right-angles. This therefore doesn’t fit into the Bellframes Scheme as far as we can understand it, so further investigation will be required. (Notes collected by C J Pickford)
