Projects & overhauls
2009 by Royal Eijsbouts (major overhaul)
Playing cabin demolished and rebuilt; bells 1–58 repositioned above the new cabin. Transmission system nearly totally replaced (new clappers on all but the largest bells; full separation of the carillon transmission from the electro-pneumatic-mechanical clockwork system; replaced roller bars with directed cranks). Retuned 46 of the lighter bells, which had corroded to varying degrees, back to the original G&J specifications. New keyboard (and practice keyboard) in the WCF Keyboard 2006 standard. Project took place from 1 October 2007 through 30 May 2008. Rededicated on 7 June 2008. Work continued on the cabin and tower interior until "summer of 2009" (quality-of-life improvements to the new cabin, installed microphones and recording apparatus).
1932 by Gillett & Johnston (ring created)
Carillon dedicated 24 November 1932 by Kamiel Lefévere. Frederick Mayer was a project consultant. A few technological keyboard features (piston assists on the largest bells, octave coupler) never properly worked upon installation. Mayer complained that the "metal fourth" partial in the largest bells was still audible despite efforts to mitigate it. Financed by John D. Rockefeller Jr (1874–1960) in memory of his mother.
