From Bowell’s ledger book 8th May 1912- New clapper joints for 8 bells. New wheel braces and truing wheels. 10 new pullies and boxes. New garter block to 7th bell. Cleaning out bearings. Rearranging the wire which pulls off clock hammer, new wire, travelling and other expenses, £9; Overhauling chiming apparatus, etc. £1. Total £10. Paid by cheque 16 Sept 1912

The opening of the grand peal of six bells at Ardleigh, Essex, took place on Tuesday, the 26th ult. when two prizes were given to the two companies that rung the best two peals, which were awarded to the company from Dedham, Essex, and the other to the company from Bildeston, Suffolk. The bells had been re-hung and tuned by T. and J. Hurry, church bell-hangers, of this city; they went remarkably well, and gave the greatest satisfaction. The large bell weighed 15 cwt. and was rung by a boy of twelve years of age.
