Notes
[1]Frame layout details
Dalton’s Dorset shows the lower frame is a standard 8.3 layout, adapted in 1937 to accommodate one additional bell (two south pits converted into three). Therefore 8.3 with three bells in pits F and E.
Keith Fleming reports that the original Dobson eight are hung in a conventional timber low side frame. This was modified in 1937 the accommodate the additional trebles to mark the Coronation by M & S, with the usual one above the other steel structure.
An earlier updated suggested the frame was by W Dade, but unclear where that came from. The church accounts (quoted by Dalton) show that Dobson supplied the frame, and even if Dade was the job carpenter, the frame should be credited to Dobson.
