Overhauled | 1996 by Nicholson Engineering Ltd Remains of cast in crown staples removed from bells 5, 6, 11 and 12; clappers of these four bells overhauled 1991 by Whitechapel Bell Foundry General overhaul, including replacement of gudgeons and bearings 1976 by John Taylor & Co The former 6th bell was scrapped and the two preserved trebles from 1904 melted down and recast into a flat sixth bell, which was hung in a new metal low-sided frame extension 1932 by John Taylor & Co The 6th bell was retired and a new bell cast in its place. The frame was extended with two wooden pits on the eastern side and the whole frame strengthened with new grillage of rolled steel joists. Four new trebles cast to augment the bells to twelve; the 1904 trebles of the ten were preserved on a stand in the belfry with the former 6th. The new trebles were provided with cast iron headstocks and ball bearings; the heaviest eight were rehung on ball bearings and provided with new independent crown staples on their original headstocks 1904 by Llewellins & James Augmented to ten with two new trebles, supplied with all new fittings. The wheels of the back eight were replaced. 1885 by John Taylor & Co The bells were rehung in a new timber frame for ten bells, the 3rd (of eight) being recast. The heaviest five bells had their canons removed, and all the bells were rehung on new fittings, including wooden headstocks, plain bearings, and plate gudgeons |
