Frame modifications:
Frame 1: 1896 by John Taylor & Co
Frame Fr1, which had layout 8.3, was modified by Taylors in 1896: Pits C and D were turned at right-angles; the outer truss on Pit B was replaced using a cast iron truss of truss type 8.3.A.h; the inner truss on Pit B was left in situ but a cast iron truss of truss type 8.3.A.h was inserted inside it.
